Phuket flooded again today following heavy downpour
Several roads in Phuket are underwater today following heavy rainfall, which has caused flash floods and mudslides in mountainous areas, according to reports from the province.
In the Ban Kata community, where 13 people died and 19 others were injured in recent mudslides, it is reported that rocks were washed down the Nak Kerd mountain by torrents of water, raising concern among residents of a possible repeat of the recent tragedy.
In neighbouring Krabi province, a huge boulder fell from the mountain and is partially blocking a road in Krabi Yai sub-district, reducing the road’s width to just one lane. An excavator has been sent to remove the boulder.
The Krabi Yai canal is swollen and the water level is still rising, prompting the provincial administration to warn people living in eight districts to brace for flooding and mudslides.
In the southernmost border province of Satun, large areas in Khuan Don, Khuan Kalong, La-ngu, Tha Phae, Manang and Thung Wa are now inundated.
