The theme of the two-day summit, to be attended by leaders from 35 member states, will be “Sports Diplomacy,” focusing on the role of sports in empowering people, promoting cooperation and enhancing peace and security in the region.
Jirayu Houngsub, an adviser to the prime minister, said Paetongtarn will deliver her vision, concerning economic, social, and resource development, on October 3.
She will also convey Thailand’s commitment to greater cooperation under the ACD framework, particularly as Thailand will assume the chair of the ACD on January 1, 2025.
This will be Paetongtarn’s first international meeting since officially taking office earlier this month.
The ACD, inaugurated in Thailand in 2002 during the premiership of Paetongtarn’s father Thaksin Shinawatra, is a pan-Asian cooperation and policy dialogue forum aimed at promoting understanding, mutual trust and mutual interests among Asian countries, as well as finding common solutions to global challenges.
