The Supreme Court’s Election Case Division decided today to strip former senator Dr Keskamol Pleansamai of her voting rights for ten years, after finding her guilty of falsely claiming to be a professor at the University of California when applying for senatorial election candidacy in 2024.

Dr Keskamol applied in Group 19, which was comprised of people engaged in independent professions.

On her application form, she introduced herself as a professor in human resources development at the University of California in the United States.

She received the highest number of votes (79) in the final round of the Senate election in June 2024.

The Supreme Court ruled, however, that it had discovered that no educational institution had approached the Office of the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation to seek royal appointment of the professorship for Dr Keskamol.

The Supreme Court also held that Dr Keskamol had never taught at any educational institution.

Finding her guilty of violations of Section 226 of the Constitution and Section 62 of the Senate Election Act, the court stripped her of her voting rights for 10 years as of the date of its ruling.
