Pilots of the RTAF AT-6 aircraft found dead at the crash site in Chiang Mai
The pilot and co-pilot of the Royal Thai Force’s (RTAF) AT-6 turboprop light attack and reconnaissance aircraft were killed when their plane crashed into dense forest in Chom Thong district of Chiang Mai during a routine training exercise this morning, according to the RTAF.
The emergency team, from Air Wing 44 in Chiang Mai, found the bodies in the plane wreckage, which was still on fire at the time of their arrival at the crash site in the forest of Ban Huai Fang. The team retrieved the bodies and sent them to their airbase for identification.
The RTAF said that their identities will be formally announced later, adding that an investigation is under way to determine the cause of the fatal crash.
