10,000 baht reward offered for information leading to arrest of fire starters in Nakhon Nayok
The Nakhon Nayok provincial administration has offered a 10,000 baht reward to anyone who can provide information to the authorities which leads to the arrest or arrests of the person or people responsible for starting a massive fire in Pak Phli district, which has raged through harvested rice fields covering a total of about 1,520 hectares over the past few days.
Smoke from the massive conflagration darkened the skies over Nakhon Nayok and Bangkok on Tuesday and Wednesday, worsening the air quality and posing a threat to the health of people in the city.
Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt sent two high-pressure fire trucks, two water trucks and one support truck plus 14 officials yesterday, to help contain the fires.
The Public Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Office in Nakhon Nayok confirmed today that the fires have been put out, but some officials remain to prevent anyone setting fires again.
Meanwhile, Governor Chadchart said the city’s administration has been coordinating with the Land Transport Department to check emissions from trucks and buses to ensure they comply with the law.
Any vehicle found to exceeded emission limits will be taken off the road immediately and will remain so until the problem is fixed.
