BMA launches free adult diaper registration via ‘Traffy Fondue’ app
The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) is inviting bedridden patients, dependent individuals and their caregivers to register for free adult diapers via the ‘Traffy Fondue’ mobile application, with the initial batch set for distribution on October 1.
Speaking today, Deputy Bangkok Governor Tavida Kamolvej announced that the registration platform was launched on August 12. The initiative is aimed at supporting bedridden patients, dependent individuals and those suffering from incontinence, as certified by a medical practitioner.
To submit an application, patients or their relatives can request adult diapers by providing basic personal details, caregiver information and attaching a valid medical certificate confirming the applicant's health condition.
City officials will conduct an initial document review and notify applicants within three days.
Following notification, public health officers and social workers will perform home visits within 14 days to verify the patient's condition, offer home hygiene advice, meet with caregivers and schedule delivery dates.
The entire process, from initial registration to the home visit, takes two to three weeks.
Assoc. Prof. Tavida stated that the BMA currently holds an initial stockpile of around 7,000 adult diapers for the October 1 rollout. If registration exceeds current inventory, short-term procurements will be made before a comprehensive allocation system, operated in partnership with the National Health Security Office (NHSO), launches on January 1 next year.
During the first two days following the registration platform’s launch, eight people completed registration.
Assoc. Prof. Tavida noted that, while initial numbers remain low as the system undergoes stability and user-convenience testing, the application has performed smoothly without technical issues.
Approved applicants will receive three adult diapers per day free of charge for the duration of the programme.
For patients unable to access the app, requests can be submitted directly through any BMA Public Health Centre or local district office.
