Pegatron joins Nvidia’s Vera Rubin server supply chain
TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Pegatron Corp. (和碩) has joined Nvidia's (輝達) next-generation Vera Rubin server supply chain, Chairman Tung Tzu-hsien (童子賢) announced Tuesday (June 2) at Computex Taipei (台北國際電腦展). The Taiwanese electronics manufacturer also unveiled new AI infrastructure products and its AI Factory validation framework at the trade show as it seeks to expand in the rapidly growing AI market.
Pegatron showcased an AI-powered robotic dog at the event, which Tung described as a platform for developing and integrating technologies related to generative AI and physical AI. The company launched the project several years ago to refine hardware and software capabilities for future AI-driven products, he said. "The appearances of these future products, modules, and software controls offer countless permutations and variations," Tung said.
The robotic dog is powered by Nvidia's Thor processor and incorporates high-efficiency control components from Switzerland, co-CEOs Johnson Teng (鄧國彥) and Gary Cheng (鄭光志) said. Cheng said the project reflects the need to develop critical technologies and supply chains for AI applications that cannot rely solely on components from China.
Pegatron uses Nvidia's simulation technologies to test and train systems in virtual environments before deploying them in real-world settings, Cheng added. The approach, known as "real-to-sim," can be applied to robotics development and data center design, including the optimization of power, cooling and water resources. The framework allows the company to identify potential issues before physical deployment.
"AI's journey from science fiction to reality relies on Taiwan's semiconductor foundation, algorithm breakthroughs and big-data applications," Tung said. He added that these areas are expected to drive growth in the sector over the next two decades. Tung compared the industry's rapid evolution to the era of the American frontier, saying AI development remains in its early stages.
Pegatron is committed to expanding its AI-related businesses, Tung said, arguing that sustained investment and execution will be critical as demand for AI infrastructure continues to grow. The company's entry into Nvidia's Vera Rubin supply chain positions it to compete for contracts as hyperscale data center operators upgrade their facilities. ◼
