星艦第14次試飛將標誌這款火箭的研發相較7月上一次測試出現重大進展。7月測試採次軌道飛行軌跡，太空船進入太空後返回地球，未完成繞行軌道。Starship's 14th test flight would mark a major leap in the rocket's development over its last test in July, which flew a suborbital trajectory that took the spacecraft into space before returning it to Earth without completing an orbit.
