這項統計數據收集了1903年至2025年間，包括361個五戰三勝與七戰四勝系列賽，其中128個分區系列賽、112次聯盟冠軍戰與121次世界大賽，共計1805場比賽，數據略過1907年、1912年以及1922年出現平手（Tie）的比賽。
1903年以及1919年至1921年採九戰五勝制的「世界大賽」也未計入比數統計中，不過1981年分段賽季（split-season）的分區系列賽則比照MLB.com的歷史紀錄納入計算。
至於由美國大聯盟數據專家藍絲（Sarah Langs）統計，顯示，拿下七戰四勝賽制中的首勝隊伍，總計197場比賽中，有127次奪下系列賽勝利，勝率為64%。在採用目前 2-3-2 賽制的系列賽中，客場取得 1-0 領先的球隊，在 73 次系列賽中， 41 次最終贏得系列賽，勝率為56%。
