（圖／翻攝自500px @Christian Siegert）被稱為「最不像地球的地方」之一的冰島南岸Sólheimasandur有片一望無際的黑色沙灘，濃濃的孤寂感看起來像極了外太空，這片土地上有一處相當知名的景點，就是看起來像似末日般、帶有濃濃神秘感的飛機殘骸。

1973年一架美軍道格拉斯DC飛機在經歷了事故後，被迫降落在冰島南方Sólheimasandur的黑色沙灘上，還好最後所有的機組人員都幸運倖存了下來，不過卻因為飛機的回收成本過高，在移除了重要的機件後，機身就被廢棄在此，這架飽受多年風霜的飛機由於位處偏僻的荒蕪中，有別於其他冰島懾人的自然美景，已成為遊客們心目中的熱門景點。

由於環境周圍的地質脆弱，因此當地禁止車輛在柔軟的黑沙上行駛，而飛機殘骸距離附近的停車場單程就有4公里，徒步往返大約會需要3-4小時，加上冰島氣候嚴寒且變化多端，如果遇上天氣驟變，在周圍毫無遮蔽物的狀況下，很容易就會有極大的危險。

經過多年的風吹雨淋，飛機的機翼與機尾都不在了，本來就殘破的機身更是變得千瘡百孔，覆蓋著風吹過的黑沙，更有一種末日將至的既視感。這架飛機殘骸在2015年也曾短暫的引發過話題，歌手小賈斯汀Justin Bieber前往冰島拍攝MV時，在飛機殘骸上玩起了滑板，雖然殘骸並未被列為受保護的遺跡，不過小賈斯汀當時的行為仍被批評不尊重景點環境；由於飛機內外都已殘破不堪，為了不要加速損壞，當地也貼出公告希望遊客能夠愛惜景點、不要攀爬。
