With a career that includes choreographing BLACKPINK’s Coachella performance, Jolin Tsai’s Ugly Beauty world tour, and hit songs for top K-pop idols, Kiel Tutin gives an interesting answer: “No, I don’t think it’s a one-size-fits-all emotional remedy. Dance has a powerful ability to awaken emotions and heal the heart, but I’ve also seen it bring pressure and self-doubt.” Especially for professional dancers, the industry is fiercely competitive—dance is not just about self-expression; it’s also a profession, a discipline.

Professional dance may not be for everyone—but dance itself absolutely belongs to everyone! Kiel shares that even when he started, people often told him he had no rhythm. But even without formal training, as long as you simply enjoy the feeling of moving with the music, dance can help you let go of distractions and reconnect with your body in the present moment, immersing yourself in a sense of freedom and release. “It’s not about technical perfection—it’s about feeling. If you’re having a good time, does it matter if you’re doing it right? If someone cares - stuff ’em!”
