Toll free expressway travel on May 4, Coronation Day
The Expressway Authority of Thailand (EXAT) has announced it will waive tolls on three major expressways this Monday, May 4, to mark Coronation Day.
The waiver, which will apply at 63 toll plazas, will be in effect from 00:00 Monday morning until 23:59 Monday night.
EXAT say that the move is aimed at easing the financial burden on commuters and to facilitate travel during the public holiday.
Toll will not be charged on:
• Chalerm Maha Nakhon Expressway: 21 toll plazas (covering the Din Daeng, Bang Na and Dao Khanong routes).
• Si Rat Expressway: 32 toll plazas (covering the Chaeng Wattana, Bang Khlo and Srinagarindra routes).
• Udon Ratthaya Expressway: 10 toll plazas (covering the Bang Pa-in and Pak Kret routes).
The exemption is part of a standing agreement between EXAT and Bangkok Expressway and Metro Plc. (BEM), along with the Northern Bangkok Expressway Company Limited (NECL).
Under the revised concession contracts, tolls are waived on significant public holidays announced by the Office of the Prime Minister, in accordance with the policies of the Government and the Ministry of Transport to reduce traffic congestion and support the government policy to reduce the cost of living.
