EC certifies all 100 party-list MPs, plus 3 Constituency MPs
The Election Commission (EC) announced the endorsement of 100 party-list MPs and three additional constituency MPs today.
The announcement comes just over three weeks after the general election on February 8.
The delay was caused by protests against vote count errors in several constituencies, which led to recounts and some new elections.
Protests against the EC’s use of bar and QR codes on ballots, which critics argue could allow for the identification of voters and how they voted, also contributed to the delay. The case is still pending before the Constitutional Court.
The three additional constituency MPs approved by the EC are Akara Prompao of the Kla Tham Party in Constituency 1 of Phayao, Pol Lt-Gen Suraphol Wiratyothin of the Bhumjaithai Party in Constituency 1 of Chanthaburi, and Kampee Chuenban of the Bhumjaithai Party in Constituency 2 of Chanthaburi.
The election of Natthawut Prasertsuwan of the Bhumjaithai Party in Constituency 2 of Suphan Buri has not yet been endorsed by the EC.
Most of the 400 constituency MPs have already been endorsed by the EC.
