Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul offered a public reassurance today that there is sufficient oil to meet domestic demand for up to 96 days, as he urged members of the public to pursue their normal lives and not rush in panic to fill their vehicles.

The prime minister had just chaired a meeting of the Joint Management and Monitoring Centre for the Situation in the Middle East, held to discuss updates on war situation and its impacts on Thailand.

He stressed the need for agencies concerned to inform the public about the true oil supply situation in the country, noting that motorists and motorcyclists rushing to fill up at petrol stations in several provinces was caused by inaccurate information spreading on social media.

“The energy situation in the country has not reached a critical point yet,” he said, adding that he has instructed oil traders to set aside supplies for the industrial sector, so their operations can continue without disruption.

Meanwhile, Finance Minister Ekniti Nitithanprapas said that four major oil suppliers, namely PTT, Bangchak, OR, and PT, have confirmed that there is sufficient oil to meet domestic demand, but that there is a need to manage the supply of refined oil products to petrol stations.
