PM dismisses suggestion that Thailand is the “sick man of Asia”
Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul has dismissed foreign media’s branding of Thailand as the “sick man of Asia”, claiming that foreign investors continue to have confidence in Thailand.
“We are OK and we are not sick,” said the prime minister in response to a foreign reporter’s question about the epithet.
He said that Thailand’s infrastructure remains intact and strong, the country has sufficient oil to accommodate the demands of the industrial sector and retains the ability to meet investors’ demands.
The prime minister also said that he feels somewhat relieved now that the situation is now under control, as oil shortages at service stations have eased, no fuel hoarding is being reported and there will be sufficient oil to meet domestic demand.
