Pol Gen Tatchai, in his capacity as head of the Anti-Human Trafficking Centre, flew from Bangkok to Mae Sot this morning in the company of the commissioner of 6th Region Provincial Police Bureau, Pol Lt-Gen Kittisak Durongkhavibul, to meet Xingxing upon his return from Myawaddy township in Myanmar.
Interviewed by Thai police at the immigration office in Tak, the Chinese actor reportedly said that, after his arrival at Suvarnabhumi international airport in Bangkok at about 3am on January 3rd, on a flight from Putong in China, he hired a car for 5,000 baht to take him to a shopping mall in Mae Sot.
From there he was picked up by an ethnic Burmese tribesman and driven across the border to Myawaddy township in a pickup truck.
The actor admitted that, upon arriving in Myanmar, he realised that he had been duped, but dared not resist.
The pickup driver reportedly told Thai police that he was paid 2,000 baht by “someone in Myanmar” to take the actor into the country.
