The Election Commission (EC) today announced the first batch of 396 certified constituency MPs, representing ten political parties.

The certified constituency MPs are from:

-Bhumjaithai Party: 171 MPs (3 not yet certified)

-People’s Party: 87 MPs

-Pheu Thai Party: 58 MPs

-Kla Tham Party: 55 MPs (1 not yet certified)

-Democrat Party: 10 MPs

-Thai Ruam Phalang Party: 5 MPs

-Palang Pracharath Party: 4 MPs

-Prachachat Party: 4 MPs

-Thai Sang Thai Party: 1 MP

-New Opportunity: 1 MP

The EC is yet to certify the results in Phayao Constituency 1, Suphan Buri Constituency 2, Chanthaburi Constituency 1 and Chanthaburi Constituency 2.

The EC said these constituencies are “currently undergoing a recount in accordance with its resolution.”

Although the bulk of the election results have been certified, the EC retains the authority to investigate and conduct further inquiries.

If there is reasonable evidence that a candidate or any individual committed electoral fraud or was complicit in such actions, the EC may petition the Supreme Court to revoke that person’s right to run for office or their voting rights.

If the Supreme Court accepts the petition, the accused MP must suspend their duties until the court delivers its ruling.

Meanwhile, the Secretariat of the House of Representatives is ready to allow newly elected MPs to report to the parliament building starting tomorrow.

The EC announcement of the list of certified constituency MPs comes 17 days after the general election, faster than the 2019 general election, which took about 44 days, and the 2023 election, which took about 30 days.

The EC Office said in a press release that the 100 party-list MP seats are still under consideration, but an announcement is expected early next month.

This announcement, however, comes against a background uncertainty over whether the election will be nullified by the Constitutional Court over the use of individually coded ballot papers.
