Bangkok ACD meetings postponed

The scheduled 20th Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD) and related meetings, set for next week, due to be held in Bangkok next week, have been postponed to a later date, according to a brief announcement today by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The postponement was announced a week before the ACD foreign ministerial meeting and related events, which were to take place on Sept 1-3. The short statement did not elaborate on the decision.

In a related development, on August 29, the Constitutional Court will rule on whether to disqualify Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra, over a controversial leaked audio clip with Hun Sen, the Chair of the Cambodian Senate.

She has been accused of breaching ethical standards for a prime minister. If the ruling is affirmative, she will be dismissed along with her Cabinet members.

As the ACD chair, Thailand has adopted the theme “Fostering Asia's Sustainable Growth and Future through Innovation.” It seeks to prioritize the strengthening of ACD cooperation across key sectors, including sustainable development, finance, digital transformation, tourism, and education.
