Three police officers killed in helicopter crash in Prachuap Khiri Khan

Three police officers were killed when their helicopter crashed in Muang district of the southern province of Prachuap Khiri Khan this afternoon.

The three victims have been identified as Maj Prathuang Chulert (pilot), Pol Cpt Songphol Boonchai (co-pilot) and Pol Lt Tinkrit Suwannoli (flight mechanic).

The Bell 212 helicopter left a police camp in Chumphon province, heading for the Naresuan camp in Prachuap Khiri Khan, when it crashed near Nong Pung Puai Temple in Ko Lak sub-district at about 1.30pm. The cause of the crash is being investigated.

Pol Gen Kitrat Phanphet, the police commissioner-general, expressed his condolences to the families of the three officers and promised that they will be properly compensated.
