Cooler temps and winds hit Thailand until Sunday
The northern, northeastern, and central regions of Thailand will experience cool and windy weather from today until Sunday, with temperatures in the northeastern provinces dropping by 2-4°C and by 1-3°C in the northern and central provinces.
This is due to the arrival of a new, moderate cold front system from China, according to the 7-day advance weather forecast by the Meteorological Department.
In the southern region, 2-meter waves are expected in the Gulf of Thailand, and 1-2 meter waves in the Andaman Sea.
In Bangkok and its surrounding areas, it will be cool and windy, with temperatures forecast to drop by 1-2°C. Minimum temperatures are expected to range between 20°C and 23°C.
Airborne PM2.5 pollution levels will be moderate, but above the standard threshold, mainly due to poor air circulation compared to other regions that will experience windier conditions.
In the northern region, minimum temperatures are forecast to range from 12°C to 18°C on the flatlands and 4°C to 14°C at higher elevations. In the northeast, temperatures are expected to drop to between 13°C and 18°C on the plains, and 8°C to 14°C in higher areas.
Minimum temperatures in the central region are forecast to range from 16°C to 20°C, and from 17°C to 22°C in the east.
The southern west coast will experience cool weather, with isolated thunderstorms forecast for only 10% of the area.
