Chatuchak building collapse death toll rises to 12, dozens still missing

The body of a woman was recovered from the rubble of the 30-story building under construction, which collapsed during the tremors from Friday’s earthquake in Myanmar.
The mountain of debris has been divided into zones A, B, C and D, with a rescue team assigned to each zone.
The remains of the latest victim, recovered from Zone B, have been taken for autopsy.
The collapsed building, which was to house the Office of the Auditor General, was reduced to rubble and Thai authorities are investigating why it collapsed, while nearby buildings, including those under construction, remained intact.
Meanwhile, the deputy Bangkok governor said that weak life signs are still being detected today and rescue teams are racing against time to save those trapped.
The Thai team is set to meet with rescue teams from abroad, who have just arrived, to coordinate efforts to locate and assist those still under the debris.
