Off the coast of the Antarctic Peninsula lies Goudier Island, which is about the size of a soccer field. The island is home to Port Lockroy, a tiny site operated by the UK Antarctic Heritage Trust. Despite its tiny size, it’s actually one of the most visited spots in Antarctica, with around 18,000 people visiting every summer. The base is run by a team of four employees: base leader, gift shop manager, postmaster, and wildlife monitor. There are two main reasons why Port Lockroy is the most popular tourist spot in Antarctica.
