根據瞭解，該名22歲的白人球迷，言論不僅涉及種族歧視，且提到了馬泰母親，導致馬泰情緒失控，事實上，馬泰母親於2017年的一場車禍過世，但實際上說了什麼事情，目前並不清楚，也不瞭解該球迷是否知道馬泰母親離世消息，而馬泰在場上淚崩，不僅獲得響尾蛇球迷安慰，白襪隊主場看板也刊登訊息，強調棒球是一個大家庭，白襪隊支持馬泰。
