教宗良十四世敦促全球採取行動協助移民兒童

梵蒂岡城，9月23日（路透社）——教宗良十四世週三對移民與難民兒童所承受的處境表達痛心，並敦促全球採取行動，保護那些為尋求安全而逃離祖國的年輕人。VATICAN CITY, Sept 23 (Reuters) - Pope Leo lamented on Wednesday conditions suffered by migrant and refugee children and urged global action to protect young people fleeing their home countries in search of safety.

教宗在每週公開接見中對聚集在聖伯多祿廣場的數千名朝聖者表示，移民兒童「經常承受難以言喻的痛苦、暴力、酷刑、剝削與創傷處境」。Migrant children "often endure unspeakable suffering, violence, torture, exploitation, and traumatic conditions," the pontiff told thousands of pilgrims in St. Peter's Square for his weekly general audience.

教宗說：「我呼籲每個人的責任感。願每個人都能感受到自己與這些年輕人的生命相關；他們永遠都必須受到保護與協助。」"I appeal to everyone's sense of responsibility," said the pope. "May each person feel involved in the lives of these young people, who must always be protected and assisted."

良十四世是首位出生於美國的教宗，他經常呼籲更善待移民，去年也曾批評美國總統川普的強硬移民政策。Leo, the first U.S.-born pope, has frequently called for better treatment of migrants and last year criticized U.S. President Donald Trump's hardline immigration policies.

良十四世週三沒有點名任何特定國家。教宗說，他是在天主教會「世界移民與難民日」前夕提出這項呼籲；今年該日於週日舉行。Leo did not mention any specific countries on Wednesday. The pope said he was making his appeal ahead of the Catholic Church's World Day of Migrants and Refugees, celebrated on Sunday this year.
