政府代理發言人塔比萊・姆杜利（Thabile Mdluli）週一晚間在聲明中表示，這兩名官員週五在鄉村聚落馬菲維尼（Maphiveni）受傷；當地距離首都墨巴本約兩小時車程。Acting government spokesperson Thabile Mdluli said in a statement late on Monday that the officials were injured on Friday in the rural village of Maphiveni, about a two-hour drive from the capital, Mbabane.

目前尚不清楚美方人員當時在該地區執行何種任務，但姆杜利表示，軍方已就這起事件的相關情況展開調查。It was not immediately clear what the U.S. personnel were doing in the area, but Mdluli said the army had launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
