Thailand’s overall political index edged up slightly in July to 3.71, from 3.69 in June, with the public giving the highest scores to opposition performance and national security, according to a survey by Suan Dusit Poll of Suan Dusit University released today.

The survey, conducted among 2,029 respondents across the country between July 27 and 31 and taking ‘Thai Political Index for July 2026’ as its theme, evaluated various key political indicators.

Opposition performance and national security tied for the highest evaluation, each scoring 4.20 points. Other favourably rated categories included public rights, liberties, civic participation and general political party operations.

Efforts to combat illegal drugs and influential dark figures, however, received the lowest score of 3.01 points.

The poll also noted declines in public satisfaction regarding government transparency, legal and judicial processes, disclosure of public news and anti-corruption efforts.

In terms of politician visibility, Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul topped the government figures with 37.71% support, followed by Finance Minister Ekniti Nitithanprapas at 28.74%. On the opposition side, Rukchanok Srinork led with 33.70%, followed by Natthaphong Ruengpanyawut at 25.91%.

When asked about government ministries, respondents expressed the highest expectations for the Ministry of Finance at 18.97%, closely followed by the Ministry of Commerce at 16.16%, the Ministry of Defence at 10.40% and the Ministry of Energy at 9.97%.

Expectations were also expressed for the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives, the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society, the Ministry of Labour, the Ministry of Public Health and the Ministry of Transport.
