Auto shop blaze in Bangkok spreads to condo

A fire broke out at an auto repair shop in Ratchadapisek Soi 36, Sub-soi 11, on Sunday morning before spreading to the second floor of an adjacent condominium, forcing residents to evacuate. No injuries have been reported.

The Rama 199 Radio Centre reported that the blaze began at around 10.49am. Flames quickly engulfed the auto shop, sending thick black smoke billowing into the sky due to the large quantity of highly flammable materials inside, including motor vehicle tyres and spare auto parts.

Fire engines arrived quickly and firefighters fought to prevent the blaze from spreading further the neighbouring residential units. The fire was brought under control by 11:20am.

Nonetheless, firefighters continued to spray water and foam onto the site to prevent the flames from reigniting.
