Consumer council to file class-action suit against NETA Auto

The Thailand Consumers Council (TCC) has agreed to file a class action lawsuit, on behalf of their customers, against NETA Auto (Thailand) Company Limited, the sole distributer of Chinese-made NETA EVs in Thailand.

Buyers of NETA electric cars have experienced numerous problems after the manufacturer filed for bankruptcy protection. For instance, NETA Auto (Thailand) has been late in the delivery of car registration plates to their customers and in the replacement of conversion and distribution units (CDU) for cars under repair, as well as settlements of claims for compensation during the warranty period of the CDUs, forcing a number of customers to dig into their pockets to buy the kits themselves.

NETA Auto (Thailand) has informed their customers that they will get the number plates within this month and expects to receive spare parts from the Chinese company. It also agreed to extend the warranty period on purchased cars.

The TCC claims that the company has been unable to resolve the problems, customers have not been compensated as promised and numerous repaired cars still do not function properly.

It is therefore necessary for the TCC to intervene on behalf of the affected car buyers, by filing a class action lawsuit to seek redress through the Civil Court.
