Election wave begins today as candidates register nationwide
Election candidates from all political parties are gathering at venues across the country, designated by the Election Commission, to register their constituency candidacies for the February 8 general election.
The Bangkok Youth Centre in Din Daeng has been selected as the registration venue for the capital’s constituency candidates from today through December 31.
The same venue will also be used for party-list registration from tomorrow through December 30, while the submission of each party’s lists of prime ministerial candidates, previously forwarded to the House of Representatives, will take place on December 31.
People’s Party leader Natthaphong Ruengpanyawut led 33 constituency candidates to the sports centre for registration this morning.
Natthaphong told the media that the party has opened a website to gather public feedback on its election policies, to determine which policies are most and least favoured.
Key party policies include the suppression of scam activities and grey businesses, promotion of the rule of law, fair minimum wages, economic measures to improve people’s livelihoods, and a universal welfare scheme.
Natthaphong reiterated that the party has no policy to amend the lèse-majesté law, adding that it is ready to join any party in forming the next government, provided they accept the party’s policy platforms.
He also said the party will field candidates in all 400 constituencies nationwide.
