The Election Commission (EC) has revealed that a total of 139,810 Thais in 135 countries have registered to vote in the general election on February 8th, while 95,975 across 122 countries have registered to vote in the referendum.
The largest number of registrants is in Australia, followed by the United States, Japan, the United Kingdom, and Germany.
In Australia, 26,463 people have registered to vote in the general election and 19,802 in the referendum. In the U.S., 17,411 have registered for the election and 11,114 for the referendum.
Japan ranks third, with 11,505 Thais registered to vote in the election and 9,453 in the referendum, followed by the United Kingdom (Great Britain and Northern Ireland), where 8,632 have registered to vote in the election and 5,225 in the referendum.
Germany has 8,613 Thai nationals registered to vote in the election and 6,880 in the referendum.
Meanwhile, there are 23 countries from which only one individual has registered to vote in the election, five countries with two registrants, and five other countries with three registrants each.
As for the referendum, 16 countries are hosting a single registered voter.
Six countries had two registrants, two countries saw three people registering, and five countries recorded four registrants each.
The EC has confirmed that all election and referendum ballots have been sent out to eligible registered voters, including those in remote regions where delivery may take longer. The ballots are expected to reach voters within the designated timeframe.
The EC also offered assurance that all completed ballots will be returned to Thailand, via Thai embassies and consulates worldwide, for counting.
Thais living abroad will cast their ballots for the general election and referendum ahead of Thailand's February 8 general election, allowing time for the ballots to be transported back to the country.
