Late Princess Bajrakitiyabha to be moved to the Grand Palace tomorrow
The late Princess Bajrakitiyabha will be moved from the King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital to the Piman Rattaya Throne Hall in the Grand Palace tomorrow at 3.30pm, the Bureau of the Royal Household announced today.
The convoy will leave the hospital through Gate 15 onto the Henri Dunant Road, turning right onto Rama 4 Road and right again onto Phaya Thai Road up to the Phaya Thai intersection. The procession will then turn left onto Sri Ayudhya Road towards Ratchadamnoen Klang Road, passing through Sanam Luang and into the Grand Palace via the Viset Chaisri Gate.
The public have been flocking to the King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital since this morning to pay tribute to the late Princess.
One of the mourners, ‘Orachorn’, a resident of Nonthaburi province, told Thai PBS that, when she learned about the passing of the Princess, she headed for the hospital without hesitation to pay tribute.
Another mourner, ‘Tanyaporn’, said she used to join others in welcoming the Princess when she was young and that she came to the hospital today to pay tribute to her for the last time.
Meanwhile, Professor Tongthong Chandransu, a specialist on Royal affairs, said that he feels deeply saddened by the passing of the Princess, as he praised her for her Royal activities and contributions to the people during the past 40 years.
He specifically mentioned the ‘Bangkok Rules’, or United Nations Rules for the Treatment of Women Prisoners and Non-custodial Measures for Women Offenders, initiated by the late Princess to improve the lives of female prison inmates, rules which are now standard practice around the world.
