Most Thais believe war in Middle East will escalate - Suan Dusit poll
Over 78% of respondents to a Suan Dusit poll believe that the war in the Middle East will escalate and are concerned that oil prices will surge.
Suan Dusit University conducted a field and online opinion survey from March 3rd to 6th among 1,394 people regarding the war in the Middle East. 52.65% of them said they occasionally monitor the situation. 29.27% said they monitor it closely. 15.50% said they barely follow the situation and 2.58% admitted they don’t at all.
The poll shows that 78.91% of the respondents are concerned that the war will drive oil prices up and 69.30% are concerned that the cost of living, including the prices of goods, will increase. 63.20% are worried that the cost of electricity will surge.
78.57% believe that the war will spread and impact the global economy. 63.63% believe the conflict will lead to a heavy loss of innocent lives and 54.16% urge the government to come up with clear actions to address the impacts.
Overall, 39.10% have confidence that the government will enable the country to weather the crisis, while 37.56% said they do not have much confidence in the government.
