Micro parties back Anutin's PM bid, boosting Bhumjaithai
The Bhumjaithai party now claims to command 286 seats in the House of Representatives, with more than ten micro-parties, each of which won only a single seat, having voiced support for the prime ministerial candidacy of Anutin Charnvirakul.
Additionally, four MPs-elect of the Prachachat party, minus Tawee Sodsong, have pledged support for Anutin’s bid to become the next prime minister.
Bhumjaithai Secretary General Chaichanok Chidchob and the party’s spokesperson, Nan Boonthida Somchai, announced the inclusion in the coalition of the Thai Sang Thai and New Aspiration parties today, which have three House seats.
In addition to the Pheu Thai party, which commands 74 seats, the micro-parties that have pledged support for Bhumjaithai are Economic (3), Thai Sang Thai (2), Palang Pracharath (5), Pheu Chart Thai (2), and the rest, each of which commands one seat, namely Mai, Ruam Jai Thai, Thaisubthawee, Palang Prachachon, New Dimension, New Democracy, and New Alternative.
The party now claims 286 votes in the 500-seat Lower House.
Chaichanok said that Anutin has already discussed the prospect of Kla Tham joining the coalition with its leader Narumon Pinyosinwat, adding that the issue remains to be concluded.
The Kla Tham party won 58 House seats, according to the unofficial poll results of the Election Commission.
The four Prachachat MPs-elect who have vowed support for Anutin’s PM bid are Sulaiman Buenaepuenae, Sukarno Matha, and Abdulayee Samang, representing Yala province, and Kamolsak Leevamoh of Narathiwat.
They are scheduled to be presented to the media at the headquarters of the Bhumjaithai party this afternoon.
The fifth MP-elect, Tawee Sodsong, has opted out due to his conflict with the Bhumjaithai party over the Khao Kradueng land controversy and the case concerning alleged collusion in the Senate election.
