Thai security agencies have stepped up security measures and are monitoring certain foreign embassies and key locations amid rising tensions between the United States, Israel and Iran, Thailand’s National Security Council chief Chatchai Bangchuad said yesterday.

He stressed that security has been tightened at the embassies of those three countries, along with related diplomatic missions, he said.

While insisting that Thailand remains safe for regular travel and daily life, Chatchai said police and intelligence agencies have been instructed to monitor locations linked to countries involved in the conflict closely, including relevant embassies, as well as activities that could affect public order.

Monitoring of those entering and leaving Thailand who may have links to potential unrest is underway, with additional tracking measures to be implemented if necessary.

He added that officials are scanning social media platforms for misinformation that could create division or incite conflict between different groups. Intelligence units, police and the Digital Economy and Society Ministry have been tasked with overseeing cyber threats and distorted online content.

The public can continue their normal activities, Chatchai said, adding that security agencies will maintain close surveillance to ensure the safety of all nationals and prevent any spillover of overseas conflicts into Thailand.

Meanwhile, Deputy National Police Chief Pol Gen Samran Nualma said they have increased vigilance nationwide following the escalation of hostilities in the Middle East.

Security measures include identifying target groups from countries directly involved in the conflict, monitoring venues, verifying intelligence in high-risk areas and tightening inspections of workplaces and residences.

The Immigration Bureau and Special Branch Police are examining records of foreign nationals, especially those from the three main countries involved in the conflict.

Samran said that, while priority is being given to those three countries, authorities will also monitor nationals from allied nations.

In Bangkok, Metropolitan Police chief Pol Lt Gen Siam Boonsom has ordered increased security at Chabad House on Phra Arthit Road.

Police have also increased checkpoints, patrols and intelligence-gathering operations in areas deemed at risk and are coordinating closely with embassy security personnel to ensure maximum protection.
