Remains of 3 Thai 'Mayuree Naree' crew members repatriated

The bodies of three Thai crew members, who lost their lives aboard the cargo ship ‘Mayuree Naree’ in the Strait of Hormuz when it was struck by Iranian projectiles, arrived at Suvarnabhumi Airport on Friday in a solemn and dignified homecoming.

The repatriation process was closely coordinated by the ship’s operating company, Precious Shipping (PSL), to ensure the deceased could be returned to their families for traditional religious rites.

The arrival ceremony at the airport was attended by Khalid Hashim, managing director of PSL, representing the company, while Mungkorn Pratoomkaew, director general of the Department of Consular Affairs attended on behalf of the government to oversee international coordination and documentation.

Following the arrival, PSL issued an official statement expressing its deepest condolences to the grieving families for the loss of what they described as invaluable personnel.

The shipping company emphasised its commitment to providing full financial compensation, mental health support and all due benefits to the families of the victims to help them navigate through this period of profound grief.

PSL also extended its gratitude to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and all relevant government agencies for their prompt assistance in handling the legal, logistical and diplomatic procedures, which allowed the late crew members to be returned home smoothly and with dignity.
