Navy officer transferred over car linked to Prachachart MP attack
A senior naval officer, with the Internal Security Operations Command (ISOC) in Narathiwat, has been temporarily transferred to headquarters after allegedly providing the vehicle used in the attempted murder of a Prachachat Party MP.
The order was issued by Vice Admiral Songsak Jumpamun, director for coordinating security affairs with ISOC.
Captain Montri Toprasert, head of ISOC’s Administration Division in Narathiwat, has been transferred pending an investigation.
In the early morning of March 20, a group of gunmen opened fire on MP Kamonsak Leewamoh near his residence in Bacho district, Narathiwat, as he was returning from Hat Yai Airport.
In the attack, his driver and police escort were seriously injured.
Kamonsak claimed that dash-cam footage from his vehicle clearly captured the license plate of the attackers’ car, allowing investigators to identify the suspects and trace the vehicle, which was later confirmed to belong to ISOC in Narathiwat.
The vehicle was later dismantled and dumped in a body of water after the incident.
