Garden and ornamental plants emerge as “star exports” for Thailand

Auramon Supthaweethum, Director-General of the Ministry’s Department of Business Development, noted that Thai orchid exports alone were valued at over 2.67 billion baht in 2023 and 2.75 billion baht in 2024.
Major markets for Thai orchids and other garden and ornamental plants include Japan, Malaysia, and China, adding that perennial trees have also shown strong potential as Thai exports.
She said garden and ornamental plants, as well as perennial trees, could generate nearly 100 billion baht in total revenue for local growers, traders, and exporters.
Domestic traders and exporters earned over 87.4 billion baht from locally grown garden and ornamental plants and perennial trees, she added.
The government will take concrete action to promote and support greater exports of Thai garden and ornamental plants, as well as perennial trees, to international markets.
Local growers of garden and ornamental plants and perennial trees will also receive support to transition toward Smart Farming Businesses through the adoption of agricultural technologies and innovations.
