Lisa shines in acting debut as 'Mook' in The White Lotus

Thai-born superstar Lalisa Manobal, known to her many fans as just ‘Lisa’, is to make her official debut as an actress in the HBO series The White Lotus (Season 3), in which she plays a character called “Mook”, a member of staff at a resort. Lisa appears in the season teaser saying “Welcome everyone to The White Lotus Thailand,” offering a glimpse of her character's role in the season to be streamed next February.

Lisa posted the teaser on her Instagram account, @lalalalisa_m, with the caption “Introducing Mook.” Both Thai and international fans have expressed their excitement over the show, complimenting and congratulating her on this new step in her career.

The third season of The White Lotusis set in Thailand, showcasing various famous locations, including Bangkok’s Paknam Phasi Charoen Temple, the beaches of Phuket and Samui islands and some nightlife venues.

Carabao's famous song “Made in Thailand” is featured in the show. Several well-known Thai stars also join the cast, including Dom Hetrakul, Tayme Thapthimthong, Patravadi Mejudhon, and renowned veteran journalist Suthichai Yoon.

Lisa said in an interview that she is both excited and nervous about her first acting role, saying “It is a very new experience for me, but I am confident that audiences will fall in love with Thailand even more by watching the show.”

Thai culture is prominently featured in the series, which is expected to boost the tourism sector, which has suffered several disasters over the past few years, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The White Lotusis a sophisticated and dark satire on wealth and hypocrisy and has been a commercial and critical success for HBO, with its first two seasons receiving numerous Emmy award nominations.
