Australian police identify recipient of Thai Airways crew heroin

A woman, identified only as ‘Dear’, was supposed to receive the fabric tote bags, found to contain heroin, from a TG cabin crew member, identified as ‘Meena’, at a hotel in Melbourne, Australia, according to Kanisorn Phapeeranon, director of the Narcotics Suppression Office, today.

He told the media that he had been informed by the Australian Federal Police of Meena’s statement to the police, claiming that she was hired by a person, identified on Facebook as ‘Rose’, to deliver the bags to a woman, identified only as ‘Dear”, who would collect the items at an unnamed hotel.

He said that the neither the nationality of ‘Dear’ nor the location of the hotel are known at present.

The anti-narcotics official also said there is no further information yet as to whether the suspected cabin crew member was required to hand-deliver the tote bags to ‘Dear’, because she was arrested before she was able to.

He said that he is waiting for more information from the Australian police about ‘Dear’, adding that both the AFP and the Australian Border Force are involved in the case and both have their clear lines of responsibilities.

Regarding ‘Rose Rose’, which is believed to be a Facebook avatar page, Kanisorn said his office has sought cooperation from Meta office in Thailand in tracing the owner of the account.

He also noted that anti-narcotics officials are not yet convinced that the deliveryman, seen in CCTV footage at Meena’s condominium in Bangkok, actually works for the Grab delivery service.
