Su-ngai Kolok train services back on track after weekend blast

Train services to and from Su-ngai Kolok railway station, in Thailand’s southernmost province of Narathiwat, resumed today after repairs were completed on a section of track damaged by an IED blast on Saturday.

Stationmaster Wasan Janloy said the explosion occurred on the track between Maruebo and Tanyong Mat stations, damaging concrete railway sleepers.

The State Railway of Thailand promptly sent a maintenance team to repair the damage.

With the work now completed, the first train to leave Su-ngai Kolok station today at 9am was train No. 452, operating on the Su-ngai Kolok-Nakhon Si Thammarat route.

Passengers affected by the suspension of train services on August 23 and 24 are able to present their tickets at their nearest railway station for a full refund, he said.
