Blast hits Pattani PTT station restroom, no injuries reported

An explosion damaged a restroom at a PTT petrol station in Muang district of Thailand’s the southern province of Pattani today. No injuries have been reported.

The blast occurred at around 1.10pm inside the restroom of the PTT Bana petrol station in Bana sub-district.

Witnesses reported hearing a loud explosion, the force of which damaged restroom facilities and scattered debris across the area.

Police say the type of explosive device used has not yet been confirmed.

Initial assessments by investigators suggest the object may have been a large firecracker or a high-pressure noise-making device (flash-bang). Forensic examinations are still underway.

Following the incident, police, military and explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) teams were deployed to inspect the scene and secure the area.

Forensic officers are collecting evidence and reviewing CCTV footage in attempts to identify those responsible and pursue legal action.
