HRH Princess Anne will visit Thailand next month, during which she will be granted an audience with Their Majesties the King and the Queen of Thailand.

The UK’s Princess Royal will also pay her respects to and offer condolences over the passing of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother, according to the British Embassy in Bangkok.

Princess Anne and her husband, Sir Tim Laurence, are scheduled to visit Thailand on July 16 and 17 as part of a programme aimed at strengthening ties between the United Kingdom and Thailand.

During the visit, Princess Anne will also meet Thailand's prime minister and visit a school in Bangkok supported by Save the Children Thailand.

The Princess Royal also expected to meet Thai female scientists and view projects related to regional health security, before concluding her visit with activities highlighting cultural cooperation between the UK and Thailand.

British Ambassador to Thailand Mark Gooding said the visit, Princess Anne's fourth to Thailand, reflects the warm and enduring relationship between the two countries and underscores the important role the British royal family continues to play in fostering bilateral cooperation.

Princess Anne has previously visited Thailand three times, in 1979, 1987 and in 1972 when, as a princess, she accompanied her parents, Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, on a state visit.

The last visit to Thailand by the now late Queen Elizabeth II and the now late Duke of Edinburgh took place in 1996 during celebrations marking the 50th anniversary of the reign of Thailand’s late King Bhumibol Adulyadej.
