PM welcomes Vietnamese President on official visit
Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul officially welcomed Vietnam's President and General Secretary of the Communist Party, To Lam, and his wife, Ngo Phuong Ly, to Government House this morning.
The official visit is aimed at strengthening bilateral ties and elevating broad strategic cooperation between the two nations.
The welcoming ceremony commenced at 9.30am on the front lawn of the Thai Khu Fah Building, where the Vietnamese President was greeted warmly by Anutin before the two leaders inspected a military guard of honour.
Following the ceremony, the Prime Minister escorted the Vietnamese leader and his wife inside for an official photo session at the central staircase. President To Lam then signed the government guestbook and viewed commemorative gifts in the Ivory Room.
The two leaders subsequently held restricted talks, to exchange perspectives on regional and global affairs, and reaffirmed their shared commitment to deepening cooperation in trade, investment, security and regional development.
The discussions then expanded into a plenary meeting at the Bhakdi Bodin Building, focusing on strategic partnerships to enhance economic growth and stability for both nations and the wider ASEAN region.
At 11.15am, Prime Minister Anutin and President To Lam witnessed the exchange of action plans and memoranda of understanding (MoUs) at the Santi Maitri Building. They also presided over the official unveiling of a special logo, marking the 50th anniversary of Thai-Vietnamese diplomatic relations, followed by a joint press conference.
At 7.00pm the Prime Minister and his wife will host an official dinner in honour of the Vietnamese delegation at the Outer Santi Maitri Building.
Thailand is the first ASEAN country selected by President To Lam for an official visit since assuming office.
