PTT, Bangchak slash fuel prices by over ฿2.5 per litre as global market cools
PTT and Bangchak have announced a major reduction in retail fuel prices, cutting diesel by 2.56 baht/L and petrol and gasohol variants by 2.51 baht.
The sharp drop, in line with easing global oil prices, took effect at 5am today.
The decision was approved yesterday by the Oil Fuel Fund Committee (OFFC), following a directive from the Energy Policy and Planning Office (EPPO).
The price cuts comply with a recent Cabinet resolution urging energy officials to accelerate relief measures for domestic consumers by lowering retail fuel prices across the board.
The adjustment effectively lowers the cost of ultra-low sulfur B7 and B20 diesel by 2.56 baht/L.
Energy analysts attribute the steep reduction to a softening trend in global oil markets as investors have expressed renewed confidence in the de-escalation of geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, particularly following positive progress in diplomatic negotiations that reopened critical energy shipping lanes through the Strait of Hormuz.
Yesterday, global benchmarks saw diesel close at approximately US$118 per barrel, while petrol settled at around US$97.
Following the policy directive, both of Thailand’s major fuel distributors revised their Bangkok pump prices.
At Bangchak stations, Hi Premium Diesel + is now priced at 49.25 baht/L, while Hi Premium Gasohol 98+ is set at 48.44 baht/L. Both Hi Diesel and Gasohol 95 are retailing at 34.94 baht/L, followed by Gasohol 91 at 34.57 baht.
For the remaining variants, Gasohol E20 and Diesel B20 are both available at 29.94 baht/L, while Gasohol E85 stands at 25.88 baht.
At PTT’s pumps, the premium Super Power Diesel is priced at 50.05 baht/L, Super Power 99 at 49.79 baht/L and Super Power Gasohol 95 at 47.79 baht/L. Regular Petrol is retailing at 43.93 baht.
Meanwhile, the standard Diesel and Gasohol 95 both sit at 34.94 baht/L, with Gasohol 91 at 34.57 baht/L.
Lastly, both Diesel B20 and Gasohol E20 are priced equally at 29.94 baht/L.
