Chatuchak pub blaze death toll rises to 30

The death toll from the Chatuchak pub blaze has climbed to 30 as another two critically injured victims die in hospital, according to the Chatuchak District Office.

As of this report, 27 victims, including a Laotian national, have been formally identified, while authorities are still working to confirm the identities of the remaining three.

Meanwhile, Public Health Minister Pattana Promphat said that the owner of the venue remains in intensive care and is listed in a critical condition.

He added that he will undergo further assessment, noting that burn injuries and damage to the respiratory system typically require prolonged treatment.

Witnesses said that the owner had managed to escape from the fire, but returned to help others.

Speaking at Government House today, Pattana said he visited injured victims at Rajavithi Hospital yesterday. Three patients remained in critical condition, while one was classified as having moderate injuries.

He added that medical teams are providing the best possible treatment at 17 hospitals, adding that patients requiring specialist treatment can be transferred between hospitals within the ministry's network.

Mental health support teams from the Department of Mental Health have also been deployed to assist patients with moderate and minor injuries, while specialist teams from the Department of Health are monitoring victims who inhaled smoke for respiratory complications.

Pattana acknowledged that several patients remain in a worrying condition, particularly those with severe burns and respiratory injuries, who face a high risk of infection.

“The first seven days are a particularly critical period,” he said, adding that doctors will do everything possible to prevent the death toll from rising further.

Three members of the ‘Totsakan’ music band, the lead singer, keyboardist and drummer, were killed in the fire, which broke out while the band was performing.

This morning, mourners and members of the public laid flowers in front of the venue in memory of those who perished and in support of those injured in the fire.
