Three suspected scammers detained by Thai troops in Aranyaprathet district
Three suspected scammers were arrested by Thai border troops in Aranyaprathet district of Sa Kaeo province early Sunday morning, after they sneaked across the porous border from Cambodia’s Poipet border town.
According to the Burapha Task Force, one of the suspects, a Chinese national, was caught with 1,000 SIM cards in his possession. He allegedly told army officers that he worked at a call centre in Cambodia and planned to travel to Myanmar’s Myawaddy province to deliver all the SIM cards to a Chinese employer there.
The other suspect, an American, claimed that he intended to visit the US Embassy in Bangkok, to discuss his pension, while the third, an Indian national, claimed that he planned to travel to Bangkok before flying back home to India.
All were, however, detained on charges of illegal entry.
