Insurance to cover repatriation of deceased Thai YouTuber’s remains
The Office of the Insurance Commission (OIC) has confirmed that the private insurer of Bowornthat Pengsuk, better known as the 27-year-old travel YouTuber ‘Hlun Solo’, will cover the full cost of repatriating his body from Georgia following his sudden death.
Adisorn Pipatworapong, deputy secretary general of the OIC, stated today that an inspection has revealed Bowornthat held a 5-million-baht travel accident insurance policy with Sompo Insurance Thailand.
The policy covers death resulting from accidents and homicide, though it excludes pre-existing medical conditions.
Addressing reports that the vlogger may have died from inhaling sulfur gas near his hotel, Adisorn explained that such an incident would fall under the accident coverage.
Sompo Insurance has also assured the OIC that it stands ready to release the 5-million-baht compensation as soon as it receives official documentation, including a death certificate, medical reports and police findings that clearly confirm the cause of death aligns with the terms of the policy.
