Seven ‘micro’ parties vow to support Anutin’s PM candidacy
Seven micro parties, which collectively won nine House seats, have pledged support for Anutin Charnvirakul’s prime ministerial candidacy, Nan Boonthida Somchai, spokesperson for the Bhumjaithai party, told the media on Saturday.
The seven parties are Economic, New Democracy, Mai, Ruam Jai Thai, Thaisubthawee, People’s Power (Ruam Palang Prachachon) and New Dimension (Miti Mai).
Regarding the Kla Tham party, which won 58 House seats according to unofficial poll results from the Election Commission, Nan said that Anutin, the party’s leader, and Chaichanok Chidchob, the party’s secretary-general, will handle the talks about the possibility of inviting them to join the coalition, in addition to the Pheu Thai party.
Most of the micro parties, with the exception of Ruam Palang Prachachon, hold just one House seat. They are likely to be treated as ‘spare part’ parties, in case the coalition government faces internal problems and requires their votes in parliament.
