Two people, dozens of cats killed in Nonthaburi house fire

A man, a woman and almost 30 cats were killed in a fire at a two-storey house in a housing estate in Muang district of Nonthaburi province on Sunday night.

According to an initial police report, firefighters and other emergency responders rushed to the scene in Bang Sri Muang sub-district.

It took firefighters about 30 minutes to extinguish the blaze. When the rescue team reached the second floor, they found a man and a woman lying dead in a bedroom. Almost 30 cats, which were being kept in an adjacent room, were also found dead. Two other cats survived and were rescued.

Police said they found an oil drum and a stove in the bedroom, adding that an investigation was under way.
