Police said the suspect, a director at the Office of Investigation and Special Operations and deputy spokesperson for the NACC, was apprehended about 500 metres from the scene by a group of witnesses and handed over to responding police officers.
The suspect underwent a breathalyser test at the scene, which allegedly showed an excessive level of alcohol in his system.
Bang Sri Muang police, forensic officers from the Central Institute of Forensic Science and emergency responders arrived at the scene on the outbound lane of Ratchapruek Road after being alerted to the crash.
They found a damaged electric motorcycle lying on the road next to the victim, a 43-year-old delivery rider identified only as Sornnarin. About 500 metres away, police found a stationary pickup truck with front-end damage. A man who appeared intoxicated was found sitting inside the vehicle.
